Long time listeners to the podcast will know that Angie is a pretty hardcore Disney fan, so why did she decide to go to Universal Orlando? Her daughter was 11 years old on this vacation and is a thrill kid. This meant the 2 of them could fully experience all the attractions that are at the Universal Resort since they seem to skew older than Disney. Plus Angie and her daughter are HUGE Harry Potter fans, so a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was an absolute must.
This vacation was actually a split stay with the first part of the vacation being at Universal and the second part with time over at Walt Disney World. You can listen to next week’s episode to hear all about that part of the trip.
In planning the decision to stay on Universal property became pretty easy. Here are some of the benefits:
- Early entry
- Express Pass
- Close proximity
- Boat transportation
They chose to stay at the Royal Pacific Resort and purchase 4-day park-to-park passes.
Angie selected Royal Pacific mainly because it was the cheapest onsite resort that still included the early-entry to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter area. Cabana Bay is a cheaper onsite resort, but it does not include the early-entry.
She paid just under $250/night including taxes with a ‘stay more save more sale’ that saved 17%.
The 2 theme parks were amazing and the vacation had met the expectations they had for the Harry Potter areas. Angie’s daughter was even one of the lucky one to be selected to have the wand chose her in the Olivander’s Wand Shop.
Here are some fun pictures from around the parks.
