This is a trip report from our January 2013 family vacation.  We stayed at the Villas at the Grand Californian Resort.

You can read the blog I wrote about this vacation over at TravelAgentDad.com.

Extra information in the podcast that I didn’t  mention in the other blog is:

Staying Offsite at the Disneyland Resort is an option to consider to save money on your resort since the area is more compacted than at Walt Disney World.

If you are staying offsite you can still get into the Disneyland park an hour early on select mornings if you purchase a 3,4,or 5 day park hopper ticket.  They refer to this as a Magic Morning.

We rented a stroller from City Stroller Rentals.

This year the Disneyland is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Disneyland park with the Diamond Celebration events.  These events are:

  • World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney – A revamping of this popular show with Mickey Mouse taking guest through the imagination of Walt Disney.
  • Paint The Night – a new nighttime parade at the Disneyland Park featuring 1.5 million LED lights.
  • Disneyland Forever – the Disneyland Park will have a new fireworks show with projection technology being integrated on the builds of Main Street, “it’s a small world”, and the Matterhorn.  There are 2 new songs.  “Live the Magic” as well as a song written by Disney Legend Richard Sherman called “Kiss Goodnight”.
